What was it? i cant sleep till i have answers?

Last night me and my partner were fast asleep when at 1am he woke me up saying to get up quick as there was a fire downstairs! I could hear the crackling noise a fire makes when its spitting! I looked out the window to where he had just been looking and a bright orange light hurt my eyes (like when you first wake up and the lights are switched on) Although it didint appear to look like flames just bright orange light! I went downstaors to where my partner already was just letting the dogs outside - there was nothing there -no fire - the dogs bark at everything - even lights and they hadn't made a sound!?The kittens didnt look disturbed and they sleep in the room below us?!Our neighbour was hanging out her window as she had been woken too although when we mentioned we thought it was fire she said 'no'-she didn't know what it was but was sure it wasn't fire!? And asked if it had gone next door.My partner took the dogs and walked up our lane-nothing!? I cant sleep till i know what it was?
