How can I relate to a semi-traditionalist father (serious)?

First id like to say that you seem very intelligent and down to earth and you make a good argument.Im a father of a 12 year old who of course doesnt date yet and you didnt mention your girlfriends age so ill ume shes 16 or older.Many youg women are given diseases and left pregnant each year and phycially and mentally abused by young men.Thats not his imagination altho he may be over reacting.However put yourself in his place as a dad and you will find thats as hard as asking him to understand you.Ive always told my daughter that any boy who wont respect me wont respect her and i think thats true.Now your best approach is to ask to meet him and express to him that how he feels is important and that youd never disrespect that.Then ask if he would like to get to know you and give you the opportunity to prove that.Last but not least never discuss with a girls dad.Good luck
